BESPROSVETIE (Hopelesness) “Nothing will happen”
The debut release by this depressive black metal band is not just a compilation of songs united by a common concept — it is rather an audio play telling the story of a schoolgirl losing her mind, while insanity strikes all of her friends. The record features the voices of real psychiatric patients, the rhymes written by people with mental issues, suiciders and sentenced to execution. It is significant that almost all characters are teenagers, inclusive of the patients of a suicide ward of the psychiatric hospital for children where the vocalist of the band works as a volunteer. Melodic DSBM is quite suitable for this concept with its dirty guitar sound, shriek, vocal fry and screams. However, all this is complemented by post rock melodies, something that sounds almost like rap, and female vocals uncommon for this genre. Yet it’s not a music album — it’s an audio play, where words are more important than the music, and the message prevails over the form. Breaking the established taboos and stereotypes, using the real recordings of the voices of those who have passed away, the project may help us better understand the nature and the internal mechanism of schizophrenia and schizophrenia spectrum disorders. This is the first part of the story. The sequel is possible.
