"A Sleep Of Primeval Ignorance" – the eighth full-length album of the HAISSEM project that marked a new stage and a new milestone of Andrey Tollock's works - the permanent Haissem's mastermind. Musician from Donetsk-city has repeatedly mentioned in interviews the fact that experiments are an integral part of his music: both in music and in sound. The new release has no exception: the sound became even more massive, dense and weighty, suddenly, right from the start making it clear that the "A Sleep Of Primeval Ignorance" will sound in quite different key than its predecessors. Experiments in arrangements refer to the keyboards mainly - there is an abundance of symphonic and choral parts, comparing to the previous LPs. The musical canvas is saturated with melodic and high-speed guitar riffs as a defining attribute of Haissem music, flavored with a tight-sounding rhythm section and not devoid of atmospheric components, coupled with occasionally appearing elements of progressive metal. The lyrics traditionally have a non-trivial narrative character and are replete with ubiquitous mysticism under the sauce of all kinds of allegories and hyperbolization, transforming the listener into a state of catatonic stupor mixed with cognitive dissonance. If we once again try to detail the musical component of the new Haissem album, it should be pointed out that on the tree with melodic black root, the fruits of dark metal, melodic death grow intensively and occasionally there are progressive and thrash metal appendages. The album will definitely appeal to fans of diverse, unpredictable compositional structures and a long-playing musical epic. For fans of Cradle Of Filth, Old Man's Child, Rotting Christ, Dimmu Borgir.
